With Virtuoso Soloist, Larsen offers a version of its Virtuoso viola strings for players who need more presence. Material and construction stay the same; only the D, G and C strings have higher tension. The result is a more focused sound with more volume, projection and clarity, intended for solo playing and for instruments that need more carrying power.

String construction

• A: the same A as in the medium set (Original A medium), carbon steel core with stainless steel winding, ball or loop end
• D: synthetic multifilament core, higher tension
• G and C: synthetic multifilament core, silver wound, higher tension

Virtuoso Soloist is available only for the standard scale of 370 mm. Here you will find the complete set as well as the single strings A, D, G and C.

Virtuoso or Virtuoso Soloist – what is the difference?

Both sets share the same A string and the same materials. The only difference is the tension of the D, G and C strings. The medium version, Larsen Virtuoso, has a golden, open and warm sound, responds easily and is versatile in orchestra, chamber music and teaching. Soloist is the right choice if your viola needs more volume and projection or if you mainly play solo repertoire.
