Larsen Virtuoso viola strings in medium tension

The Virtuoso strings from the Danish maker Larsen combine a golden, open sound with warmth and a rich tonal texture. In medium tension they respond easily and are simple to control in fine shades. This makes them a good match for many violas and playing situations, from orchestra and chamber music to teaching.

String construction

  • A: Original A medium with carbon steel core and stainless steel winding, ball or loop end
  • D: synthetic multifilament core
  • G and C: synthetic multifilament core, silver wound

Virtuoso or Virtuoso Soloist – what is the difference?

Virtuoso Soloist is not a different material. It is the Virtuoso set with higher tension on the D, G and C strings, while the A string is identical in both sets. Soloist sounds more focused and offers more volume, projection and clarity. It is intended for solo playing and for instruments that need more carrying power, and it is available only for the standard scale of 370 mm.
